altThe management structure has been developed to retain the supra-institutional quality of the Countdown while still enabling efficient and effective decision-making.  It also aims to harmonize the managerial procedures among all the partners involved in the Initiative.
 
The Core Group is composed of stakeholders who play a consultative role within the Initiative.
 
The Coordinating Committee is composed of a sub-set of Core Group members and is the decision-making body of the Initiative. The Committee is lead by two co-chairs and includes a total of 10 members:
  • 2 Coordinating Committee Co-Chairs
  • 2 Co-Chairs from the Technical Sub-committee
  • 2 Co-Chairs from the Advocacy Sub-committee
  • 1 Co-Chair from each of the 4 Technical Working Groups.
 The Coordination Committee supervises the following two Sub-committees:
 
1.      The Technical Sub-committee
 
The Technical Sub-committee’s Co-chairing consists of two UN representatives and one representative of the civil society.  This Sub-committee coordinates the work of the technical working groups:
 
a)      Coverage Working Group
b)      Health System and Policy Indicators Working Group
c)      Equity Working Group
d)      Financing Working Group
 
Each working group is lead by 2 co-chairs.
 
2.      The Advocacy Sub-committee
 
The Advocacy Sub-committee is to be held by two UN representatives and one representative of the civil society.  This Sub-committee is responsible for the Countdown Initiative’s communication and advocacy work, as well as for the organization of events such as the Countdown to 2015 Conferences.  The Sub-committee is linked to all technical working groups, directly or indirectly.
